new twist: A one‐pot nitrous acid free, diazonium‐free, and transition‐metal‐free variation of the Fischer indole synthesis has been developed. Condensation of quinone monoketals and aliphatic hydrazine hydrochlorides afforded indoles via intermediate alkylaryldiazenes.
