An efficient Ni-catalyzed protocol for the reductive cleavage of inert C-O bonds has been developed. The method is characterized by its simplicity and wide scope, thereby allowing the use of aryl ethers as easily removable directing groups in organic synthesis.

The C-H amination of benzene derivatives was achieved using DDQ as photocatalyst and BocNH2 as the amine source under aerobic conditions and visible light irradiation. Electron-deficient and electron-rich benzenes react as substrates with moderate to good product yields. N‐Arylation of N‐containing heterocycles, such as pyrazoles, imidazoles, and benzimidazoles with aryl‐, heteroaryl‐, and vinylboronicacids was efficiently carried out by copperfluorapatite (CuFAP) catalyst in MeOH at room temperature under base‐free conditions. The N‐arylated heterocycles were isolated in good‐to‐excellent yields.
