Six new 2-aryl-N-biphenyl benzimidazoles were designed and synthesized, starting with O-phenylenediamine and carboxylic acids via cyclization, followed by N-alkylation. All new compounds were identified by H NMR, IR, MS spectra and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of methyl 4′-[(2-p-chlorophenyl-1H benzimidazole-1-yl)methyl]biphenyl-2-carboxylate (4f) was determined by single crystal X-raydiffraction
