The reaction of 1-silylcyclopropyl anions with dichloromethyl methyl ether is described. The reaction with an excess amount of dichloromethyl methyl ether gives the corresponding cyclopropylsilylketones in low yields. Treatment of 1-trimethylsilylcyclopropyllithium derivatives with dichloromethyl methyl ether affords the corresponding newcyclopropylsilylketones in moderate yield. This reaction involves the intramolecular 1,2-silicon shift from carbon to carbon.

α-lithio α-trimethylsilyl cyclopropanes have been prepared by two different routes. They have been tested as precursors of alkylidene cyclopropanes, cyclopropylidienes and α-silyl α-vinyl cyclopropanes.
