The present invention relates to a litchi product and use thereof as a skin or hair care product, in particular as a cosmetic or as a (dermatological) pharmaceutical agent. The litchi product of the invention is suitable for and effective in restoring the physiological pH of skin or hair and/or in protecting the skin or hair against oxidative stress e.g. caused by light irradiation and other environmental influences. It is effective in the medical and cosmetic treatment and prophylaxis of several skin or hair diseases and conditions. Moreover, the invention relates to a process for preparing the litchi product.
Suggested is a cosmetic composition comprising an anti-pollution agent selected from the group consisting of E/Z-2-benzylindene-5,6-dimethoxy-3,3-dimethylindan-1-one, sclareolide, purple coneflower pressed juice, ginger root CO2 extract or mixtures thereof, in a working amount sufficient for (a) reducing or preventing air pollution induced gene expression, and/or (b) reducing or preventing a gene expression induced or inducible by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and/or (c) reducing or preventing air pollution-induced or air pollution-inducible skin damage.
The present invention belongs to the fields of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and concerns on the one hand a medicament for the inhibition of and refers also on the cosmetic, non-therapeutic use for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, particularly induced by sun light radiation, preferably induced by visible light radiation.
