    Inhibition of liver alcohol dehydrogenase and ethanol metabolism by 3-substituted thiolane 1-oxides

    3-Substituted thiolane 1-oxides (methyl, n-butyl, n-hexyl, and phenyl) were prepared and tested as inhibitors of horse, monkey, and rat liver alcohol dehydrogenases and of ethanol metabolism in rats. These compounds inhibit alcohol oxidation in an uncompetitive manner with respect to ethanol as a varied substrate. Lengthening the alkyl substituent increased the inhibitory potency because of tighter binding in the hydrophobic substrate binding pocket of the alcohol dehydrogenases. Thus, the 3-hexyl derivative was the most potent inhibitor of the purified rat liver alcohol dehydrogenase, with a Kii value of 0.13 microM. The 3-butyl derivative was the best inhibitor of ethanol metabolism in rats, with a Kii value of 11 mumol/kg. The acute toxicity in mice of the butyl derivative was 1.4 mmol/kg. Since high concentrations of alcohol do not prevent the inhibitory effects of these compounds, they may be particularly useful for preventing poisoning by methanol or ethylene glycol.

    Disclosed is a production method of polypropylene having high MFR value and excellent product qualities with high productivity. The method enables to produce a propylene polymer by a gas phase process where the reaction heat is removed mainly by the heat of vaporization of liquefied propylene. The method is characterized by using a solid catalyst component (A) which is prepared by contacting components (A1), (A2) and (A3) shown below. Further disclosed are: a propylene polymer produced by the method; a propylene polymer composition; and a molded body of the composition. Component (A1) : a solid component containing titanium, magnesium and a halogen as essential components. Component (A2): a vinyl silane compound. Component (A3): an organosilicon compound having an alkoxy group (A3a) and/or a compound having at least two ether bonds (A3b).

    The present invention provides a propylene-ethylene copolymer resin composition, a film and a sheet, exhibiting excellent transparency, rigidity and heat sealability, and also excellent extrusion mouldability even with extrusion moulding at low temperatures. The present invention is a propylene-ethylene copolymer resin composition including: 97 to 65 parts by weight of a propylene polymer (A) produced with a metallocene catalyst and having the following properties (A-i) to (A-iii) ; and 3 to 35 parts by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer (B) having the following properties (B-i) to (B-ii), wherein the copolymer (B) includes: 65 to 95% by weight of a propylene polymer component (B1) having the following property (B1-i); and 5 to 35% by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer component (B2) having the following properties (B2-i) and (B2-ii), (A-i) the polymer (A) has an ethylene content of 0 to 6.0 wt%; (A-ii) the polymer (A) has a MFR of 0.1 to 100 g/10 min; (A-iii) Mw/Mn is 2 to 4; (B-i) the copolymer (B) has an ethylene content of 0.4 to 13 wt%; (B-ii) the copolymer (B) has a MFR of 0.5 to 20 g/10 min; (B1-i) the polymer component (B1) has an ethylene content of 0 to 6.0 wt%; (B2-i) the copolymer component (B2) has an ethylene content of 8 to 25 wt%; and (B2-ii) the copolymer component (B2) has a MFR of 0.0001 to 0.5 g/10 min.

    The present invention discloses a catalyst component for propene polymerization, comprising titanium, magnesium, halogen, and internal electron donor A, wherein said internal electron donor A is selected from the compouns as shown in Formula I, in Formula I, R is selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, and substituted or unsubstituted C1-C30 hydrocarbyl, preferably from hydrogen, hydroxyl, and substituted or unsubstituted C1-C20 alkyl, C6-C30 aryl, C6-C30 heteroaryl, C7-C30 alkylaryl and C7-C30 arylalkyl; R1 and R2 may be identical to or different from each other, and are selected from hydrogen and substituted or unsubstituted C1-C30 hydrocarbyl, preferably from hydrogen and substituted or unsubstituted C1-C20 alkyl, C6-C30 aryl, C7-C30 alkylaryl and C7-C30 arylalkyl. According to the present invention, by using the compound as shown in Formula I as internal electron donor compound for propene polymerization, the catalyst has a higher activity, and a slow rate of delay of activity. The obtained polymer has not only a wider molecular weight distribution, but also a high melt index and isotacticity.
