A simple, efficient, mild, and regioselective method for oxyiodination of carbonyl compounds has been reported by using NH4I as the source of iodine and Oxone® as an oxidant. An efficient protocol for the synthesis of stable 2-azaallyl anion salts by the reaction of alkyl 2-bromo-2H-azirine-2-carboxylates with trimethylsilyl cyanide/Bu4NF has been developed. An efficient manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieves OMS-2-catalyzed chemoselective synthesis of 1,4-enediones and 1,4-diketones from 1,3-dicarbonyls and alpha-iodoacetophenones is described. The present catalytic system can be applied in one-pot, three-component reactions of methyl ketones, 1,3-dicarbonyls and iodine.
