This invention is directed to a cosmetic deodorant composition comprising: (a) from about 0.1 to 5 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total composition, of aminobenzoic acid amides of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, each represent hydrogen, an alkyl of from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; a hydroxyalkyl of from 2 to 4 carbon atoms; an aryl; an aralkyl or carboxyalkyl with from 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety; or an alkoxyalkyl with from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkoxy moiety and from 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together with the amide nitrogen form an optionally substituted heterocyclic ring; and (b) the remainder conventional cosmetic deodorant composition compounds.

efficient organophosphorus-catalysed amidation reaction between unactivated carboxylic acids and amines. Poly(methylhydrosiloxane), a waste product of the silicon industry, is used as an inexpensive and green reducingagent for in situ reduction of phosphine oxide to phosphine. The reported method enables the synthesis of a wide range of secondary and tertiaryamides in very good to excellent yields.
