α-arylation of carbonyl reaction and intra-molecular cyclization of 2-(2-bromophenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazoles with cyclohexane-1,3-diones was described in 1,4-dioxane catalyzed by Cu(I)/l-proline. It provided an efficient method for the synthesis of benzo[4, 5]imidazo[1,2-f] phenanthridin-4(1H)-ones with high efficiency in mild conditions.
