An efficient and inexpensive synthesis of diarylethers has been developed. The process involves the nucleophilicaromaticsubstitution of electron-deficient aryl halides and phenols and is mediated by potassium fluoride/Clinoptilolite (KF/CP) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
