Copper-Catalyzed Synthesis of Benzoxazoles via a Regioselective C−H Functionalization/C−O Bond Formation under an Air Atmosphere
摘要:
An efficient method for the synthesis of functionalized benzoxazoles is described that involves a copper(II)-catalyzed regioselective C-H functionalization/C-O bond formation protocol. The use of dichlorobenzene as a solvent at 160 degrees C allows the use of air as the tern-final oxidant in the catalytic synthesis of benzoxazoles in a process that has high functional group tolerance. The presence of a directing group at the meta position markedly improves the reaction efficacy and a variety of 7-substituted benzoxazoles are selectively produced under mild reaction conditions. The mechanism of the reaction is also discussed in this report.

An efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic oxidation of various 2-substituted dihydropyrimidines and phenolic imines has been achieved using an organic photocatalyst eosin Y bis(tetrabutyl ammonium salt) (TBA-eosin Y) and inexpensive oxidant molecular oxygen. With the aid of a base, significantly enhanced photoinduced electron transfer from substrates dihydropyrimidines or phenolic imines to the excited state of TBA-eosin Y has enabled the aerobic oxidation to yield 2-(methylthio)pyrimidines or 2-arylbenzoxazoles selectively.

the redox condensation of o-hydroxynitrobenzene with alcohol, leading to the formation of benzoxazole derivatives. A wide range of 2-substituted benzoxazoles were synthesized in good to excellent yields without the addition of an external redox agent. A series of control experiments provided a plausible mechanism. Furthermore, the reaction system was successfully extended to the synthesis of benzothiazoles

A highly efficient and selective reaction for the synthesis of 2-substitutedbenzoxazoles and benzimidazoles catalyzed by Au/TiO2 has been developed via two hydrogen-transfer processes. This reaction has a good tolerance to air and water, a wide substrate scope, and represents a new avenue for practical C-N and C-O bond formation. More importantly, no additional additives, oxidants and reductants are

A general method for the formation of benzoxazoles via a copper-catalyzed cyclization of ortho-haloanilides is reported. This approach complements the more commonly used strategies for benzoxazole formation which require 2-aminophenols as substrates. The reaction involves an intramolecular C−O cross-coupling of the ortho-haloanilides and is believed to proceed via an oxidative insertion/reductive elimination
demonstrated broad substrate scope and good compatibility of functional groups. 2-Aryl benzothiazole and 2-aryl benzoimidazole could be smoothly assembled in the same manner. On the basis of preliminary mechanisticstudies, base initiated and aromatization driven β-carbon elimination was considered to be the key step for the formation of 2. This reaction offers an alternative, facile, and sustainable route to
