Cyclization of allyl α-halocarboxylates in the presence of metallocomplex initiators

Allyl trichloroacetate and allyl 2,2-dichloropropionate, unlike allyl bromoacetate and allyl 2-bromopropionate, undergo cyclization into gamma-lactones in the presence of a Fe(CO)(5)-amide system. All these esters undergo reductive dehalogenation under the action of the Bu(n)(3)SnH-AIBN system.
Metal phthalocyanine-catalyzed addition of polychlorine-containing organic compounds to C=C bonds

Organopolychlorine compounds (CCl4, CCl3CO2Et, CCl3CHO) add at the double bond of various olefins under the catalysis of the metal phthalocyanine complexes. A possibility of quantitative catalyst recovery was shown.
The synthesis and the physico-chemical properties of a series of bis(π-allyl-nickel haloacetates), which were found to be very efficient catalysts for the 1,4-stereo- specific polymerization of 1,3-butadiene, are reported.
A novel synthetic method for γ-butyrolactones is presented. The process involves high regioselectivity to afford γ-lactones. In cases of trichloroacetates of secondary allylic alcohols, high cis-selective cyclization is accomplished.
