Bis(pentafluorophenyl)iodine trifluoromethanesulphonate and bis(pentafluorophenyl)iodine 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulphonate can be prepared in approximately 80% yield from the reactions of iodine tris(trifluoroacetate), pentafluorobenzene and the corresponding sulphonic acid in trifluoroacetic acid. The 19F NMR data and vibrational spectra have been compared with those of related compounds.
