    Asymmetric H2O-Nucleophilic Ring Opening of D–A Cyclopropanes: Catalyst Serves as a Source of Water
    摘要:
    The first catalytic enantioselective ring-opening reaction of donoracceptor cyclopropanes with water is described. By employing Cy-TOX/Cu(II) as catalyst, the reaction performed very well over a broad range of substrates, leading to the ring-opening products in 7096% yields with up to 95% ee under mild conditions. The current method provides a new approach to direct access to gamma-substituted GBH derivatives very efficiently. Importantly, Cu(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O proves to serve as both a Lewis acid and a source of water, which affords a fine system to controllably release water as a nucleophile in the asymmetric catalysis.

Mechanisic study reveals that the reaction involves a stepwise pathway, which undergoes an unusual ring opening of five-membered [3 + 2] intermediate and sequential intramolecular cyclization to afford the thermodynamically stable [4 + 3] annulation product.

    1,3-Cyclohexandione derived cyclic ketals and thiol ketals were used as O- and S-nucleophiles, respectively, for the ring opening of donor–acceptor cyclopropanes catalyzed by Cu(OTf)2 and a series of functionalized alkylene glycol diethers and dithiol diethers were obtained in good to high yields under mild conditions.

    By selecting the appropriate substituents on the ester and silyl groups, fused cyclopentane derivatives with multiple contiguous stereocenters can be synthesized with excellent diastereoselectivity through CuII/bisoxazoline‐catalyzed intermolecular [3+2] cycloaddition reactions of cyclopropane‐1,1‐dicarboxylates and cyclic enol silyl ethers (see scheme).
