  The C/O alkylation ratios of a series of alkyl halides and α-haloesters with the thallium(I) salts of 1,3-cyclohexanedione and 1,3-cyclopentanedione have been investigated. Unlike the alkylation of acyclic diketone salts, the predominant process in most cases is O-alkylation.
