Aromatic heterocyclic carboxylic acid amide derivatives represented by general formula (I), wherein A represents an alkylene group, X represents > NCHPh2 or > C = CPh2 (wherein Ph represents a phenyl group) and Het represents (II) or (III) (wherein Y represents a nitrogen atom or =CH-, R, represents a hydroxy group, a lower alkoxy group or a mercapto group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a nitro group or a cyano group, and R3 represents a lower alkyl group, provided that R2 is in 7-position when Y represents a nitrogen atom). Physiologically acceptable salts of said derivatives, a process for their preparation, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them as effective ingredients are also disclosed. These compounds and their salts show an excellent anti-allergic effect, thus being useful for prophylaxis and treatment of allergic diseases.
