Cyclic and acyclic diaryliodonium are synthesised by anodic oxidation of iodobiaryls and iodoarene/arene mixtures, respectively, in a simple undivided electrolysis cell in MeCN–HFIP–TfOH without any added electrolyte salts. An efficient approach to the synthesis of fluorenones via the palladium‐catalyzed cyclocarbonylation of cyclic diaryliodoniums was developed. Our route enables facile access to fluorenones with various substituents in modest to high yields.
Heptagon-embedded polycyclicaromatic dicarboximides were developed as new push–pull fluorescent dyes through palladium-catalysed [4+3] annulation followed by nucleophilic substitution.
