A novel method to synthesise 2-arylindoles is demonstrated via directarylation of indoles with arylsulfonyl hydrazides. Under the optimized reaction conditions, the reaction well tolerates a wide variety of functional groups to afford structurally diverse 2-arylindoles in good to excellent yields at 70 °C.

A novel and highly efficient cascadesynthesis of sulfonated quinoline dione derivatives from N-(2-cyanoaryl) methylacrylamides and sulfonylhydrazides in good yields is described. The reaction proceeds through radicaladdition, cyclization, and imine hydrolysis, in which one new C–C bond and one CO bond were formed.

A gold(III)-catalyzed dehydrazinative coupling reaction between TIPS-EBX and arylsulfonylhydrazides has been realized for the synthesis of arylalkynyl sulfones. The scope and versatility of the reaction has been demonstrated by efficient synthesis of 23 derivatives with diverse structural features.

methyl sulfones via an unexpected C–S bond formation between sulfonylhydrazides and dimethylphosphite catalyzed by NaI under mild conditions has been established. This transformation provides an alternative and metal-free pathway to acquire various aryl methyl sulfones in good to excellent yields. Notably, dimethylphosphite was employed as a stable and readily available alkyl source.
