Abstract A novel double helix coordination polymer, [Cd(2,2′-bpeec)I 2 ] n ( 1 ) (2,2′-bpeec=3,6-bis[2-(2-pyridyl)ethenyl]-9-ethylcarbazole) has been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and luminescence spectra, single crystal X-ray diffraction.
