Two types of half-esters of succinic acid have been prepared. One
contains a 1,2-dialkylated glyceryl group, while the other has a normal
alkyl group as the hydrophobic group. The mono-molecular films of the
half-esters developed at the airâwater interface were evaluated
byÏâA curves. Multilayer
LangmuirâBlodgett (LâB) films deposited on the substrate are
discussed in terms of pinhole defects. Influences of the surface pressure
on accumulation, the number of layers, and the chain length of the
lipophilic group are analysed. The LâB film made from the
double-chained homologues possessed fewer pinhole defects compared with
that composed of the single-chained one.
Tosylation of some alcohols and phenols has been directly carried out with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride using heterodoxy acids (H3PW12O40, H3PMo12O40, AlPW12O40, and AlPMo12O40) as catalysts in the absence of solvent. Methods and compositions are provided for extending the half-life of a therapeutic agent. One or more half-life extending moieties may be attached to a therapeutic agent, thereby extending the half life of the therapeutic agent. The modified therapeutic agents (mTAs) comprising one or more half-life extending moieties attached to a therapeutic agent may be used to treat a disease or condition in a subject in need thereof.
