Section 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. May cause sensitization by inhalation and skin contact.Air sensitive.The toxicological properties of this material have not been fully investigated.
Potential Health Effects
Eye:
May cause eye irritation.
Skin:
May cause skin irritation. May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this material.
Causes "nickel itch" which is a dermatitis resulting from sensitization to nickel, which is characterized by skin eruptions, followed by discrete ulcers that may discharge and become crusted, or by eczema.
Ingestion:
Harmful if swallowed. May cause irritation of the digestive tract.
Inhalation:
May cause respiratory tract irritation. The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated. May cause lung damage. In rare instances, exposure may cause sensitization, resulting in inflammation of the mucous membranes and in eczematous eruptions.
Chronic:
Symptoms of overexposure to nickel can cause sensitization, dermatitis, allergic asthma and pneumonitis.

Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin:
Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.
Ingestion:
Get medical aid. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Wash mouth out with water.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid. Do NOT use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.

As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Use extinguishing media appropriate to the surrounding fire. Substance is noncombustible.

二茂镍简称“镍茂”,化学式为(C5H5)2Ni,分子量188.88。它是深绿色、有金属光泽的晶体,比重1.47,熔点在171~173℃之间。加热至130℃时会升华。与空气接触缓慢氧化,纯度低时极易氧化成棕黑色物质。不溶于水,但能溶于有机溶剂;但在丙酮、乙醇和乙醚中会分解。易燃且溶液对空气敏感,氧化后形成较不稳定的黄橙色阳离子[(C5H5)2Ni]+。在无水乙醇中,二茂镍可被钠汞齐还原为二环戊二烯合镍(C5H6)2Ni。与四羰基镍反应生成羰基环戊二烯合镍和二羰基·三(环戊二烯)合三镍。在惰性气氛中保存有毒。

化学特性

二茂镍又称二环戊二烯合镍,是一种深绿色晶体,因分子轨道的反键轨道上有填充电子而结构不稳定,遇空气和光缓慢分解并被氧化为橙黄色C10H10Ni+。熔点171~173℃;不溶于水但可溶于乙醚、苯、四氢呋喃等大多数有机溶剂;具有反磁性。与二茂铁一样,具备夹心型结构,其中镍的氧化数为+2。二茂镍十分活泼,在空气中迅速分解,在丙酮、乙醚和乙醇中也会分解。可通过溴化镍与环戊二烯钠NaC5H5反应制备;也可用于燃料抗震剂和催化剂。单环戊二烯镍和双环戊二烯基镍作为烃类氰代、取代衍生物的基本原料,应用于烃类精炼催化剂、氢化催化剂、自由基聚合反应剂、硫化加速剂、燃料抗震剂等。此外,它还用于镀镍、制备高纯镍以及炔烃聚合的催化剂等,该物质有毒,吸入或皮肤接触均会对人体有害。

用途

二茂镍主要用作烃类精炼催化剂、氢化催化剂、自由基聚合反应抑制剂、硫化加速剂和燃料抗震剂等。此外,它还用于镀镍及制备高纯镍等领域。

制备方法
  1. 氯化镍与茂基钾在液氨中或与茂基钠在乙醚中的作用可获得。
  2. 环戊二烯基钠与二氯化镍在醚类溶剂反应制备。
  3. 亦可通过环戊二烯钠与氯化镍作用,或者在二甲亚砜溶剂中用环戊二烯和六水合氯化镍反应而获得。要得到纯品,可使用石油醚或通过130℃真空升华提纯。
