Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Ethern der Formel R¹-CR²=CH-O-R³, worin R¹ und R³ jeweils für einen Rest mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen und R² für Wasserstoff oder einen Rest mit 1 bis 2 Kohlenstoffatomen steht, durch Umsetzung eines Diacetals der Formel R¹-CHR²-CH(-O-R³)₂ in Gegenwart eines aus einer Säure und einem Amin bestehenden Katalysators bei erhöhter Temperatur in flüssiger Phase. Aus dem Diacetal bildet sich unter Abspaltung eines Alkohols R³-OH der ungesättigte Ether der vorstehend genannten Formel.
