Kinetics of the reactions of stabilized carbanions (derived from nitroethane, diethyl malonate, ethylcyanoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate, acetyl acetone) with benzylidenemalononitriles have been determined in dimethyl sulfoxide solution at 20 degrees C.
