Three types of reactions between nitrile oxides and (I) endo and exo alkenes, (II) dimerized alkenes, and (III) single alkenes, in which all the alkenes were generated in situ by NaHSO4/SiO2 are presented. This procedure allowed the concomitant generation of both nitrile oxides and alkenes in a single reaction vessel, gave higher yields for the expected isoxazoline products than the conventional method

driving force in carbene catalysis, on the occasion of his 70th birthday Abstract An efficient synthesis of 4,6-disubstituted α-pyrones employing redox activation of enals using N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis is reported. The strategy uses aroyl-substituted nitromethanes and enals as substrates and reactions proceed through an addition–elimination–lactonization sequence. On one hand the nitro group

Rearrangement of quaternary 6-aryl-2-methyl-3(5)-nitropyridinium salts was used for the synthesis of unsymmetrical nitrobiaryls. The starting nitropyridines were obtained by a three-component one-pot synthesis, two-step Hantzsch synthesis using nitro ketones, and by cyclocondensation of acylpyruvates with enamines derived from nitroacetone and nitroacetophenones.
method offers a convenient and practical approach for the synthesis of α‐nitrooximes in moderate to high yields. The salient features entail mild reaction conditions, metal‐free reagent, environmentallybenignsolvent and simple experimental procedure.
