    Disclosed are general and “substantially pure” branched discrete polyethylene glycol constructs useful in attaching to a variety of biologically active groups, for example, preferential locators, as well as biologics like enzymes, for use in diagnostics, e.g. imaging, therapeutics, theranostics, and moieties specific for other applications. In its simplest intermediate state, a branched discrete polyethylene glycol construct is terminated at one end by a chemically reactive moiety, “A”, a group that is reactive with a biologic material that creates “A”, which is a biologically reactive group, connected through to a branched core (BC) which has attached at least two dPEG-containing chains, indicated by the solid line, , having terminal groups, which can be charged, non-reactive or reactable moieties and containing between about 2 and 64 dPEG residues.

    A perfluorinated polyether having the formula RfO-(CF₂CF₂O)n-R′f wherein n=3-11 and Rf and Rf′ are perfluroinated C₁-C₅ alkyl radicals is used in vapor phase soldering applications. Especially useful for such applications is perfluoroheptaglyme.

    Perfluorinated polyethers having the formula RfO-(CF₂CF₂O)n-R′f wherein n is an integer of 1-11 and each of Rf and R′f is a perfluorinated C₁-C₅-alkyl radical, dimers of such polyethers and carbon to carbon intra­molecularly coupled cyclic derivatives of such poly­ethers are produced by direct fluorination of the polyethers in an inert solvent. Compositions of the perfluorinated polyethers and their derivatives are useful as functional fluids.

    This invention describes the development of targeted small molecule inhibitors of the inv(16) fusion, the causative agent in ∼12% of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The inv(16) fusion results in expression of the CBFβ-SMMHC fusion protein in the blood cells of afflicted patients. The present invention provides compounds which inhibit the function of both CBFβ and the CBFβ-SMMHC fusion. These compounds block the growth of an inv(16) leukemia cell line as well as increase its apoptosis, while showing minimal effects against non inv(16) cell lines. As a mechanism to develop inhibitors with selectivity for the CBFβ-SMMHC fusion protein, the present invention further provides dimeric derivatives of these compounds which show both increased potency as well as selectivity for CBFβ-SMMHC. These compounds show potent inhibition of an inv(16) leukemia cell line with minimal effects on non inv(16) cell lines. Analysis of the pharmacokinetics of the developed compounds has made it possible to improve the lifetime of the compound in the plasma of mice to a level commensurate with long-term treatment.
