    The invention relates to a polymer composition based on a thermoplastic polymer and a polyaniline, characterised in that the thermoplastic polymer contains functional monomeric units and the polyaniline is grafted onto the thermoplastic polymer substantially through the reaction of the terminal NH₂ group of the polyaniline with a functional monomeric unit of the thermoplastic polymer. It has been found that the polymer composition according to the invention has good thermoplastic processability as well as good conductive properties. The polymer composition according to the invention is extremely suitable for the production of all kinds of objects.

    The invention relates to a dispersion of electrically conductive particles, comprising a binder and an electrically conductive polymer, and a stabiliser in a dispersing medium. The dispersion according to the invention is characterised in that the particles contain a non-ionic stabiliser. It has been found that the stability of the dispersion according to the invention is very good. In addition the dispersion according to the invention is extremely suitable for providing objects with a coating in a simple manner. The applied coating has good electrically conductive properties as well as good coating properties. The applied coating is homogeneously distributed over the coated object. Moreover the applied coating appears to adhere well to the object.

    Electrically conductive elements, such as imaging elements, can be prepared by applying electrically conductive coating compositions to a suitable support. The coating compositions include a polyaniline-protonic counter-ion complex in a first solvent that has certain Hansen solubility parameters, and a film-forming binder in a second common coating solvent. The total solids in the coating composition is less than or equal to 10 weight %, and the weight ratio of the binder to the complex is at least 1:1. Under these formulation conditions, the polyaniline protonic counter-ion complex is solubilized, rather than being in dispersed form, and is readily applied to form a thin, relatively transparent, electrically conductive film. Antistatic layers of photographic elements can be prepared in this manner.

    The process of the present invention is a process to make a conductive fluorinated polymer composition (also called composite) wherein : a) an aqueous solution of an anilinium salt is mixed with an aqueous dispersion of a fluorinated polymer, b) then an oxidant is added to the mixture of step a) to make a blend of said fluorinated polymer and doped polyaniline (PANI), c) by-products and unreacted aniline are removed by washing with water or an alcohol to get a blend of purified fluorinated polymer and doped PANI, d) eventually the purified fluorinated polymer and doped PANI of step c) can be mixed with an acid, e) water is removed from the purified fluorinated polymer and doped PANI of step c) or d) if any and the remaining powder is melted and shaped in films, pellets or any object.
