Intramolecular aglycon delivery was performed for the first time starting from n-pentenyl glycofuranoside as a donor. p-Methoxybenzyl-assisted aglycon transfer required very mild reaction conditions and was promoted by N-iodosuccinimide without assistance of any Lewis acid catalyst.
