A model calix[4]arene-based rosette carrying two alternating photocleavable dithianyl-hydroxy-methyl moieties and two benzophenonecarboxylates was synthesized and shown to be capable of photoinduced fragmentation, with efficiency comparable to that of the externally sensitized parent dithianebenzaldehyde adducts.Key words: photoinduced electron transfer, photofragmentation, calixarene, dithianecarbonyl adducts.
