The direct esterification of aldehydes and alcohols was carried out with pyridinium hydrobromide perbromide in water at room temperature. A variety of aldehydes were converted to respective ester derivatives with alcoholssuch as methanol, 1,2-ethanediol, 1,3-propanediol. Further, a variety of aliphatic alcohols were also converted to the corresponding Tishchenko-like dimeric esters in good yields under

The present invention relates to novel polymerizable dental compositions comprising, (A) polysiloxanes, wherein the polysiloxanes comprise a mixture of the condensates of the three silanes (a1), (a2) and (a3) and/or a cocondensate of a mixture of the three silanes (a1), (a2) and (a3) and/or a mixture of at least two of the cocondensates (a1)/(a2), (a1)/(a3) and (a2)/(a3) and/or a mixture of the condensate of one of the three silanes (a1), (a2) or (a3) with the cocondensate of the other two silanes, (B) fillers and (C) initiators and/or catalysts and/or activators for the polymerization.
been explored, for the first time, in phosphonium-based deep eutectic solvents under gas-free conditions, by using Mo(CO)6 as the CO source. The method allows the preparation of ethylene glycol and glycerol esters in high yields (up to 99%), short reaction times and under mild reaction conditions with a very low catalyst loading (0.5 mol%).

The present invention discloses novel uses of specific menthol-derivative compounds of Formula 1, and compositions thereof, for methods of providing oral and systemic health care benefits, and methods of up-regulating or down-regulating periodontal disease metabolites: Formula 1 wherein, X is an oxygen atom or an NH radical; and R is an unsubstituted or substituted aryl or aliphatic radical. In some embodiments, the oral and systemic health care benefits include biofilm anti-attachment, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant, anti-bone loss, and anti-microbial benefits. In some embodiments, the periodontal disease metabolites correspond to healthy and/or diseased oral status and allow differential diagnosis of oral health.
