    A (meth)acryloyloxy-containing organosilicon compound (3) is prepared by simultaneously feeding a hydrohalosilane compound (1) and a (meth)acrylate compound (2) in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor to a reaction system, and effecting hydrosilylation reaction in the presence of a platinum catalyst. The content of (meth)acrylate compound (2) is 0-100 mol % based on the content of organosilicon compound (3) in the reaction system. R is a C 1 -C 10 monovalent hydrocarbon group, X is halogen, n is 1, 2 or 3, R 2 is H or methyl, and R 3 is a C 1 -C 18 alkylene group.

    The instant invention provides a method for making acrylate-functional halosilanes or halosiloxanes comprising reacting an organic acrylate and a halosilane or halosiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom in the presence of a hydrosilation catalyst and an amount of inhibitor effective for inhibiting the thermal free radical polymerization of said organic acrylate. Acrylate-functional halosilanes and halosiloxanes prepared in accordance with the present method are also provided.

    A process for manufacturing a fluoropolymer hybrid organic/inorganic composite comprising: (i) mixing at least one fluoropolymer comprising recurring units derived from at least one (meth)acrylic monomer [monomer (MA)] of formula: at least one metal compound [compound (M)] of formula: X 4-m AY m , wherein each of R1, R2, R3, equal or different from each other, is independently a hydrogen atom or a C 1 -C 3 hydrocarbon group, and R OH is a hydrogen atom or a C 1 -C 5 hydrocarbon moiety comprising at least one hydroxyl group [polymer (F)]; wherein m is an integer from 1 to 4, A is a metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti and Zr, Y is a hydrolysable group, X is a hydrocarbon group comprising one or more functional groups; (ii) reacting at least a fraction of hydroxyl groups of the R OH groups of said monomer (MA) of said polymer (F) with at least a fraction of said compound (M), to obtain a grafted polymer comprising pendant —Y m-1 AX 4-m groups, with m, Y, A and X having same meaning as above; and (iii) hydrolyzing and/or polycondensing compound (M) and/or pendant —Y m-1 AX 4-m groups as above. The invention also disclose the fluoropolymer hybrid organic/inorganic composites obtained therefrom and the method of the use of the same.

    The present invention pertains to a process for manufacturing one or more fluoropolymer fibres, said process comprising the following steps: (i) providing a liquid composition [composition (C1)] comprising: —at least one fluoropolymer comprising at least one hydroxyl end group [polymer (F OH )L and—a liquid medium comprising at least one organic solvent [solvent (S)]; (ii) contacting the composition (C1) provided in step (i) with at least one metal compound [compound (M)] of formula (I) here below: X 4-m AY m (I) wherein X is a hydrocarbon group, optionally comprising one or more functional groups, m is an integer from 1 to 4, A is a metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti and Zr, and Y is a hydrolysable group selected from the group consisting of an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group and a hydroxyl group, thereby providing a liquid composition [composition (C2)]; (iii) submitting to at least partial hydrolysis and/or polycondensation the composition (C2) provided in step (ii) thereby providing a liquid composition [composition (C3)] comprising at least one fluoropolymer hybrid organic/inorganic composite; (iv) processing the composition (C3) provided in step (iii) by electrospinning thereby providing one or more fluoropolymer fibres; (v) drying the fluoropolymer fibre(s) provided in step (iv); and (vi) optionally, submitting to compression the fluoropolymer fibre(s) provided in step (v) at a temperature comprised between 50° C. and 300° C. The invention also pertains to a process for the manufacture of said fluoropolymer fibre(s) and to uses of said fluoropolymer fibre(s) in various applications.

    The present invention pertains to a process for manufacturing a solid composite layer, said process comprising the following steps: (i) providing a mixture comprising:—at least one functional fluoropolymer comprising at least one hydroxyl group [polymer (F)],—at least one metal compound of formula (I) [compound (M)]: X 4−m AY m wherein X is a hydrocarbon group, optionally comprising one or more functional groups, m is an integer from 1 to 4, A is a metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti and Zr, and Y is a hydrolysable group selected from the group consisting of an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group and a hydroxyl group, and—at least one inorganic filler material [filler (I)] in an amount of from 50% to 95% by weight, with respect to the total weight of said polymer (F) and said filler (I); (ii) reacting at least a fraction of said hydroxyl group(s) of at least one polymer (F) with at least a fraction of said hydrolysable group(s) Y of at least one compound (M), so as to provide a fluoropolymer composition comprising at least one grafted fluoropolymer [polymer (Fg)] comprising pendant groups of formula —Y m−1 —AX 4−m wherein m, Y, A and X have the same meaning as defined above; and (iii) processing the fluoropolymer composition obtained in step (ii), so as to obtain a solid composite layer. The invention also pertains to the solid composite fluoropolymer layers obtained from said process and to uses of said solid composite fluoropolymer layers as separators in electrochemical devices.
