  Abstract Four new iridoids, the glucosides 3β-butoxy-3,4-dihydroaucubin, 6- O -butyl-aucubin and 6- O -butyl-epiaucubin, together with pedicularis-lactone were isolated from roots of pedicularis chinensis . In addition, the known glucosides aucubin and bartsioside and a known iridoid lactone were also isolated. The compounds were identified mainly by spectral evidence.
