  Norcaran-23,45-tetraoles were synthesized starting from methyl 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene-7-carboxylate in several steps. Norcaradiene endoperoxide is the key component; it was obtained by photooxygenation of methyl 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene-7-carboxylate.
