Regiospecific synthesis of functionalised 1,3-diarylisobenzofurans via palladium- and rhodium-catalysed reaction of boronic acids with o-acylbenzaldehydes under thermal or microwave activation
Variously substituted 1,3-diarylisobenzofurans have been regiospecifically prepared via palladium- and rhodium-catalysedreaction of functionalised boronicacids onto o-acylbenzaldehydes. Rhodium catalysis has furthermore been improved using microwave activation. Thus, isobenzofurans containing aryl groups substituted by halogens, unprotected amine, alcohol and even aldehyde groups, have been obtained

Enantioselective Gold(I)-Catalyzed Heterocyclization–Intermolecular Exo [4 + 3]-Cycloaddition Reactions for the Synthesis of Chiral Oxa-Bridged Benzocycloheptanes
The highly exo- and enantioselective gold-catalyzed tandem heterocyclization/[4 + 3] cycloaddition of 2-(1-alkynyl)-2-alken-1-ones and 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran was implemented by utilizing Ming-Phos, which provides a facile access to chiral seven-membered oxa-bridged rings in 80–98% yield with high exo selectivity (exo/endo up to 50:1) and up to 97% ee.

An unprecedented oxidative cleavage of benzo[c]heterocyclesusingm-CPBA is reported. The reaction of 1,3-diaryl benzo[c]heterocycles with m-CPBA (meta-chloroperoxybenzoic acid) at room temperature for 5 min led to the formation of 1,2-diaroylbenzenes in good to excellent yields.
