The action of lithium perchlorate in ether on (allyl propargyl ether) hexacarbonyldicobalt complexes

Lithium perchlorate in dry ether can promote cyclopentenone formation from (alkyne)dicobalt hexacarbonyls plus alkenes (Khand reaction), but in lower yield than other promoters. However, in the case of allyl propargyl ether derivatives, these metal-free products are accompanied by three types of trinuclear cobalt carbonyl complexes, whose structures have been established by X-ray crystallography.
