Propargyl ketones are readily reduced by the asymmetric reducing agent B-3-pinanyl-9- borabicyclo[3.3.1]-nonane (Alpine-borane). The reagent prepared from (+)-α-pinene and 9-BBN provides the R enantiomer while the S enantiomer can be obtained from (-)-α-pinene. Polystyrene-Supported Zinc Bromide-Ethylenediamine Complex as a Reusable and Highly Efficient Heterogeneous Catalyst for the Synthesis of α,β-Acetylenic Ketones
A polystyrene-supported zinc bromide-ethylenediamine complex was shown to be useful as a recyclable heterogeneouscatalyst for the rapid and efficient synthesis of α,β-acetylenic ketones in good-to-excellent yields by cross-coupling of acid chlorides with terminal alkynes.
