Also disclosed is the treatment of a patient suffering from a physiological disorder capable of being modulated by a compound of formula I having PPAR-&ggr; ligand binding activity, comprising administering to the patient a pharmaceutically acceptable amount of the compound, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

The quinoline derivatives of the invention are a particular class of quinolinyl-diaryl compounds and they are especially valuable as lipoxygenase inhibitors and/or leukotriene antagonists, typically antagonists of leukotriene D4, possessing anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties.
