  Ausgehend vom synthetischen, optisch inaktiven 3-Oxo-6-oxy-tropan sind über die 3-brom-[D-campher]-7-sulfonsauren Salze ein linksdrehendes und ein rechtsdrehendes Stereoisomeres hergestellt worden. Die katalytische Reduktion des (+)3-Oxo-6-oxytropans führte zu (–)3, 6-Dioxytropan, das mit dem Alkamin des natürlichen Valeroidins identisch ist.
