  A series of phosphonate analogues of the antiviral cyclopropane nucleoside A-5027 were synthesized from(1S*, 7R*)-3,5-dioxa-4,4-diphenylbicyclo[5.1.0]octane-l-methanol by a 10-step process. In contrast to the potent antiherpetic activity of A-5021, they were all devoid of antiviral activity.
