Abstract The thermal decomposition of the chelates of 5.7-diiodo-8-quinolinol (iodoxine) with copper(II), nickel, iron(III), lanthanum, scandium, uranium(VI) and thorium was studied on the thermobalance. It was found that the chelates varied greatly in stability. The least stable began to decompose at 65° while the most stable began at 165°. The oxide levels were obtained in the temperature range of
