    The invention provides the use of the saponin derivatives, which is of the general formula (I) or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters thereof: 1 R 1 is hydrogen, C 1-8 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl, C 2-6 alkynyl, or C 1-8 alkylhydroxy; R 2 is hydrogen, C 1-8 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl, C 2-6 alkynyl, COOH, COOC 1-8 alkyl; R 3 is C 1-8 alkylhydroxy, hydrogen, C 1-8 alkyl, C2-6 alkenyl or C 2-6 alkynyl; R 4 is a sugar residue; and m is 0, 1, 2 or 3; and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, as well as the use of such pharmaceutical composition in the inhibition of sialyltransferases.

    The invention is directed to droplet actuator devices and assay methods. The method may include, among other things, a method of conducting enzymatic assays using umbelliferone substrates with cyclodextrins in droplets in oil, the method including incubating a droplet in oil, the droplet preferably comprising an umbelliferone substrate, a sample, and a cyclodextrin compound. The methods may further include a method of substantially eliminating cross-contamination between droplets in enzymatic containing substrate-based bioassays. The method may include immobilization of the enzymatic substrate including forming an inclusion complex with the substrate for stabilizing the substrate within an aqueous environment, wherein the inclusion complex may be formed using cyclodextrins. In yet another embodiment, the invention may provide a method of enhancing hydrolysis of enzymatic substrates. The methods may further include a method of forming an inclusion complex with the substrate for stabilizing the substrate within an aqueous environment, wherein the substrate may be a 4-MU- or HMU containing substrate. The inclusion complex may be formed using cyclodextrin.

Das Präparat weist einen Gehalt einer randaktiven Substanz auf, der bis zu 99 Mol.-% des Gehaltes dieser Substanz entspricht, durch den der Solubilisierungspunkt der Tröpfchen erreicht wird. Das Präparat eignet sich zur nichtinvasiven Verabreichung von Antidiabetica, insbesondere von Insulin. Die Erfindung betrifft außerdem ein Verfahren zur Herstellung solcher Präparate.

The enzyme substrates have a first emission spectrum, and are configured to be converted by the enzyme to substrate derivatives having a second emission spectrum. The spores are exposed to the liquid growth medium, and the liquid growth medium is measured for the second emission spectrum, and either no change in the second emission spectrum or a linear increase in the second emission spectrum, is detected as a function of time.
