A facile α-iodination reaction of unsaturated amides
摘要:
A novel and mild alpha-iodination of carboxamides was developed. Unsaturated amides could be converted to the alpha-iodoamides in moderate to good yields by treatment with I2 in the presence of s-collidine.
XtalFluor-E, an Efficient Coupling Reagent for Amidation of Carboxylic Acids
摘要:
Amides were produced from carboxylic acids and amines by using XtalFluor-E as an activator. Even poorly reactive carboxylic acids can be transformed to amides. In addition, optically active amines and/or carboxylic acids were not epimerized/racemized during the process.

highly efficient methodology for the removal of the allyl protecting group in amides and lactams has been developed by using the commercially available bis(allyl)-ruthenium(IV) catalysts [Ru(eta(3):eta(2):eta(3)-C(12)H(18))Cl(2)] (C(12)H(18)=dodeca-2,6,10-triene-1,12-diyl) and [Ru(eta(3):eta(3)-C(10)H(16))(micro-Cl)Cl}(2)] (C(10)H(16)=2,7-dimethylocta-2,6-diene-1,8-diyl). The present invention relates to a premixed blend of cellulose reactive first and second adducts, which first adduct comprises a cellulose reactive polyvinylamine first adduct composition comprising a reaction product of a starting polyvinylamine with at least a dialdehyde, wherein the starting polyvinylamine is a polymer formed from N-vinylformamide or N- vinylacetamide which polymer is at least partially hydrolyzed to impart a degree of primary amino functionality, prior to the reaction with the dialdehyde, and the second adduct comprised the reaction product of a dialdehyde with a starting polyvinylamide, with the proviso that the first and second cellulose reactive adducts are different.
The invention is directed to a method for preparing a cellulose reactive adduct of polyvinylamide and a paper board resulting from the method. The polyvinylamide cellulose reactive adduct obtained by the process of the invention is used as dry and wet strength aid for paper or board and may be applied to cellulose in the wet end or applied directly to a wet web paper or board.

A composition for increasing paper strength includes a dialdehyde-modified polyacrylamide strengthening agent, a water soluble compound that is soluble at about 5 wt % or greater in water at about 25° C., and water. The water soluble compound is typically present in a weight amount that is greater than a weight amount of the strengthening agent. The composition is formed by combining the strengthening agent and the water soluble compound in aqueous media to form the composition, wherein on a dry basis the water soluble compound is typically present in a greater amount than the strengthening agent, drying the composition to form a powder or paste that has a water content of less than about 10 weight percent and is stable after storage at about room temperature for about six months, and reconstituting the powder or paste by adding water thereto. The reconstituted composition may then be used to make paper.
