    A general method has been developed for in situ trapping of arylmetal intermediates by halogen, sulfur, ketone, and aldehyde electrophiles affording the functionalization of the most acidic position in arene Pentafluorobenzene, benzothiazole,and benzoxazole can be functionalized by using K3PO4 base. For less acidic arenes, tBuOLi base is required. Arenes with DMSO pK(a) values of 35 or less are reactive.

    Stabilized phosphorus ylides were obtained from the three-component reaction between dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and sulfur compounds such as pyridine-2-thione, 2-furylmethanethiol, ethanedithioamide, and N-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol in the presence of triphenylphosphine in excellent yields.

    Disclosed is a method of synthesizing 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione compounds and intermediates thereof. The method includes reacting a hydrazine with glyoxylic acid to form a hydrazono acetic acid intermediate followed by reacting the latter with thiocyanate to obtain the 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione compound. The raw materials involved in the present method are readily available, and the reaction is very specific in terms of regioselectivity, resulting in minimum by-product and high product yield. There are neither specific requirements for special equipment nor special operations such as high vacuum, high temperature, anhydrous and oxygen-free manipulations. The process is simple and generates minimum wastes, suitable for industrial production.

    Disclosed is a method for producing a metal particle dispersion wherein a metal compound is reduced by using carbodihydrazide represented by the formula (1) below or a polybasic acid polyhydrazide represented by the formula (2) below (wherein R represents an n-valent polybasic acid residue) in a liquid medium. By reducing the metal compound in the presence of a compound having a function preventing discoloration of the metal, there can be obtained a metal particle dispersion having excellent discoloration preventing properties. Metal particles produced by such methods have a uniform particle diameter and are excellent in dispersion stability. By using a conductive resin composition or conductive ink containing a metal particle dispersion obtained by such production methods, there can be formed a conductive coating film, such as a conductive circuit or an electromagnetic layer, having good characteristics.
