Disclosed herein are plastic luminescent materials which have high light-amplifying ability and are easy to form or mold, and a process capable of producing such a plastic luminescent material with advantage.
The plastic luminescent materials according to the invention comprise a resin containing a phosphate group and a rare earth metal ion therein. The resin is preferably an acrylic resin, and a polymer constituting the resin is particularly preferably a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing a specific phosphate group-containing monomer and a copolymerizable monomer. The luminescent materials according to the invention preferably contain an amide group.
The production process according to the invention comprises the step of subjecting 100 parts by mass of a monomer mixture comprising a specific phosphate group-containing monomer and a specific amide group-containing compound to a polymerization treatment in the presence of 0.005 to 80 parts by mass of a rare earth metal compound.
