Solvolysis of chloroketone 6 in 3M LiClO4 in ether in the presence of base gave cycloadduct 2a stereoselectively and in good yield. This cycloadduct could be further transformed via a vinylogous Grob fragmentation to the tricyclo[6.3.0.02,4] undecene ring system 10 in good yield.
