Chiral bis(oxazolinylphenyl)amines proved to be efficient auxiliary ligands for iron and cobalt catalysts with high activity for asymmetrichydrosilylation of ketones and asymmetric conjugate hydrosilylation of enones.

Abstract Iron(III) bisoxazolinylphenylamido (bopa) pincer complexes are efficient precatalysts for the cross-coupling of nonactivated primary and secondary alkyl halides with phenyl Grignardreagents. The reactions proceed at room temperature in moderate to excellent yields. A variety of functional groups can be tolerated. The enantioselectivity of the coupling of secondary alkyl halides is low. We report a catalytic asymmetricsynthesis of piperidines through [4 + 2] cycloaddition of 1-azadienes and nitro-alkenes. The reaction uses earth abundant Zn as catalyst and is highly diastereo- and regioselective. A novel BOPA ligand (F-BOPA) confers high reactivity and enantioselectivity in the process. The presence of ortho substitution on the arenes adjacent to the bis(oxazolines) was found to

bis(oxazolinylphenyl)amido pincer ligand (Bopa) to stabilize the catalytically active Fe center, resulting in isolation and characterization of well-defined ironcomplexes whose catalytic roles have been probed and confirmed. Reactivity studies of the ironcomplexes identify an Fe(II) “ate” complex, [Fe(Bopa-Ph)(Ph)2]−, as the active species for the oxidative addition of alkyl halide. Experiments using radical-probe

diphenylamine‐linked bis(imidazoline) ligands were prepared through Kelly‐You’s imidazoline formation procedure mediated by Hendrickson’s reagent in good yields. The novel ligands were tested in the asymmetricFriedel–Craftsalkylation of indolederivatives with nitroalkenes. In most cases, good yields (up to 97%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98%) can be achieved. The optimized bis(imidazoline) ligand
