compounds in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim]BF4) or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF6) ionicliquids under mild reaction conditions to afford the corresponding bis-indolylmethanes in excellent yields. synthesized in high yields by an electrophilic substitution reaction of indoles with carbonyl compounds under mild reaction conditions using two efficient heterogeneous catalysts, silicasupportedsodiumhydrogensulfate (NaHSO4⋅SiO2) and amberlyst-15. The second catalyst can be reused.
