Nucleoside dimers with a N-cyanoguanidine linkage were synthesized and used as building blocks for oligonucleotidesynthesis. Oligonucleotides composed of alternating phosphodiester and cyanoguanidine functions are still able to hybridize with a complementary natural oligodeoxynucleotide.

greater cell permeability. It has been used in the synthesis of several therapeutic drug molecules including nucleoside and nucleotide analogues but is yet to be evaluated in the context of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. We have designed, synthesised and evaluated3'-[18F]fluorothymidine-5'-squaryl ([18F]SqFLT) as a bioisostere to 3'-[18F]fluorothymidine-5'-monophosphate ([18F]FLTMP) for
3'-Fluoro-2',3'-dideoxy-5-chlorouridine: most selective anti-HIV-1 agent among a series of new 2'- and 3'-fluorinated 2',3'-dideoxynucleoside analogs

A series of 2'- and 3'-fluorinated 2',3'-dideoxynucleosides and 3'-azido-2',3'-dideoxynucleosides were synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activity against human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) replication in MT-4 cells. Neither conversion of 3'-fluoro- or 3'-azido-2',3'-dideoxyadenosine to the corresponding inosine derivatives nor 8-bromination of 2',3'-dideoxyadenosine resulted in increased
