    An organic semiconductor device which has an organic semiconductor layer formed by crystallizing a compound represented by the following formula (1) from a solution of the compound: wherein X 1 , X 2 and X 3 represent O, S, Se or Te; at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 represents a group that has both an aromatic ring to form a π-conjugated system with the skeleton to which it bonds, and a chainlike structure in which the number of the carbon atoms constituting the main chain is from 4 to 20, and the remaining ones represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent.

    The present teachings relate to an organic electroluminescent transistor with improved light-emission characteristics. More specifically, the present organic electroluminescent transistor has an emissive ambipolar channel including at least one layer of an n-type semiconductor material, at least one layer of a p-type semiconductor material, and at least one layer of an emissive material arranged between the layers of the p-type and n-type semiconductor materials, where the multilayer emissive ambipolar channel includes, among various layers, a layer of a p-type semiconductor material comprising a benzothieno-benzothiophene compound, and/or a layer of an emissive material comprising a blend material that includes an organic carbazole derivative as the host matrix compound and an iridium complex as the guest emitter.

    Direct coupling reaction of benzo[b]thiophene and electron-rich aryl bromides was achieved under Pd2(dba)3/SPhos catalysis in the presence of NaOt-Bu. The reaction system was applied for the installation of 2-(methylthio)phenyl group onto thiophene-fused polyaromatic molecules, demonstrating facile synthesis of precursors for thienoacene derivatives.
