본 발명은 광학재료용 에폭시 화합물의 제조방법 및 이를 이용한 광학재료용 에피설파이드 화합물과 고굴절 광학재료의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서는, 에피클로로 히드린과 황화수소를 반응시켜 비스(3-클로로-2-히드록시프로필)설파이드를 얻는 단계와, 상기 단계에서 얻은 비스(3-클로로-2-히드록시프로필)설파이드를 알칼리와 반응시켜 아래 화학식 1로 표시되는 비스(2,3-에폭시프로필)설파이드를 얻는 단계를 포함하는 에폭시 화합물의 제조방법으로서, 상기 비스(2,3-에폭시프로필)설파이드를 얻는 단계는 상기 알칼리로 12~50중량%의 가성소다를 사용하여 초기 반응기 온도를 15~40℃로 유지하면서 반응시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학재료용 에폭시 화합물의 제조방법이 제공된다. 본 발명에 따르면 불순물의 함량이 낮고 황색을 띠지 않는 고품질의 광학재료용 에폭시 화합물을 제조할 수 있으며, 이를 이용하여 고품질의 에피설파이드 화합물과 맑고 투명하며 열안정성이 우수한 고품질의 에피설파이드계 고굴절 광학재료를 제조할 수 있다.

According to the present invention, a sulfur-containing halohydrin compound is dripped into and reacted with a mixed solvent containing an organic solvent and a basic compound to provide the method for producing the sulfur-containing epoxy compound. According to aspects of the present invention, the organic solvent is at least one type of compound selected from toluene and benzene, the basic compound is at least one type of compound selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide, and the reaction temperature is between −5° C. and 30° C.
