The reagent prepared in advance by stirring a mixture of a Cp2TiCl2Me3Al reagent system in the ratio of 1:4 in toluene for 3 days is found to be effective in generating allylic titanocene on treatment with vinyl halides in THF.
A New Indirect Application of Aggregative Activation: Synthesis of Esters by Cobalt-Catalyzed Carbonylation of Aryl, Heterocyclic, and Vinyl Halides under Atmospheric Pressure
Sun lamp illuminated alkoxycarbonylation of aryl, heteroaryl, and vinyl halides was performed under atmospheric pressure of CO in the presence of a cobalt catalyst in situ generated from Co(OAc)(2). Illumination through a Pyrex flask was sufficient to catalyze the reaction. This process avoids the use of Co-2(CO)(8) and excess CH3I, which were required in the earlier procedure. A S-RN(1) mechanism is proposed.

Oxidative hydrolysis (e.g. aqueous NBS) of various vinyl halides affords the corresponding alpha-halomethyl ketones in good yield and purity.

A Cp2TiCl2-Me3Al (1 : 4) reagent system: An efficient reagent for generation of allylic titanocene derivatives from vinyl halides, vinyl ethers and carboxylic esters
Cp2TiCl2-Me3Al (a 1 : 4 ratio) reagent system in toluene for 3 days is found to be effective in generating allylic titanocene on treatment with vinyl halides, vinylethers and carboxylic esters in THF. The process for the generation of an allylic titanocene species from these starting materials was suggested to proceed through a formation of titanacyclobutane and the subsequent elimination of the halogen
